This beautiful old Manor House, parts of which date back to 1510, was once the residence of the Earl of Pembroke, founder of the historic 12th century Cartmel Priory.
The elegant and comfortable atmosphere is expressed by the tasteful furnishings and decor throughout the hotel. The superb candle-lit Dining Room is an ideal setting in which to enjoy the imaginative and carefully chosen daily changing menu. This might start with pressed terrine of Cartmel valley game with apricots and pistachios and continue with lemon Sole and Prawn Fishcakes or Roast saddle of saltmarsh Lamb. Homemade soups, breadrolls and sumptuous desserts are specialities of the house. The bedrooms , mainly built around a courtyard are quite charming in their individuality. There are 12 en-suite bedrooms with colour TV, telephone, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, radio/alarm clock.
